EYE CARE MICROSURGICAL CENTRE
Refractive Services
• The range of modern refractive surgical options we perform to permanently correct vision at Sukruthi Eye Care Microsurgical Centre(nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism), and to understand how each procedure works, and how our advanced topography-guided laser suite - ContouraVision customizes treatment to your unique corneal architecture.
• Why does one comes for this service: To achieve total independence from spectacles and contact lenses through safe, highly precise, and customized vision correction techniques performed by our sub-specialists.
An Overview
· What is this: Refractive surgeries are specialized microsurgical procedures we perform to reshape the eye's focus or insert an internal lens, allowing light to land precisely on your retina without needing corrective glasses or external contact lenses.
· Why it matters: Refractive errors like myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism occur when the natural shape of your eye prevents light from focusing directly on the retina. By correcting these errors permanently, we restore your sharp, natural vision and enhance your daily convenience, sports performance, and career opportunities.
· Who typically needs it: Adults aged 21 and older with a stable vision prescription for at least one year who want to eliminate their dependence on glasses or contact lenses.
· Common symptoms or reasons people visit: Eye fatigue or discomfort from prolonged contact lens wear, inconvenience during sports or outdoor activities, cosmetic preferences, or professional requirements demanding unassisted clear vision.
Workflow at Sukruthi Eye Care
· LASIK (Blade / Bladeless Micro-Incisional Keratomileusis): A high-precision procedure where we create an ultra-thin corneal flap using either our ultra-low energy Ziemer Z8 Femtosecond Laser or precision Amadeus II / Moria SBK Microkeratomes. We then customize and reshape the underlying corneal bed using our Alcon Wavelight EX500 Excimer Laser before gently repositioning the flap to heal naturally without stitches.
· Epi-LASIK / Surface Ablation: A flapless surface procedure where we gently move aside only the ultra-thin surface epithelial layer of the cornea before performing custom laser reshaping with our Alcon Wavelight EX500. This is ideal for patients with thinner corneas, active lifestyles, or involvement in contact sports where a corneal flap is undesirable.
· Contoura Vision (Topography-Guided LASIK & Epi-LASIK): An advanced topography-guided mapping overlay that we offer for both LASIK and Epi-LASIK procedures. Using up to 22,000 microscopic elevation points captured by our Vario Topolyzer, Contoura Vision directs our excimer laser to smooth out micro-irregularities unique to your corneal surface, resulting in exceptional visual sharpness and reduced night-time glare.
· ICL (Phakic Intraocular Contact Lens): A foldable, biocompatible phakic lens that we place permanently inside your eye, right behind the iris and in front of your natural lens. This leaves your natural corneal tissue completely untouched and serves as our primary solution for very high myopia or thin corneas.
· CLEAR (Corneal Lenticule Extraction for Advanced Refraction): A flapless, minimally invasive lenticule extraction procedure we perform using our high-precision Ziemer Z8 Femtosecond Laser. We create a microscopic tissue lenticule inside the cornea and remove it through a tiny keyhole incision, ensuring maximum corneal stability and minimal dry-eye disruption.

Your Experience at Sukruthi Eye Care
· Before the Surgery — We perform a comprehensive diagnostic workup utilizing Pentacam HR 3D elevation scans, Vario topography mapping for Contoura Vision, and Tomey ultrasound pachymetry to verify your exact corneal safety and customize laser alignment. All treatment options will be discussed with you. Final decision about the Procedure most suited for you, date and time and all the preop instructions will be discussed with you and family.
· During the Surgery — We perform all procedures as quick, outpatient microsurgeries taking only 10–15 minutes per eye under comfortable numbing topical drops (no injections or general anesthesia). You will return home after detailed post op instructions about care and medicine schedules.
· After the Surgery — You will experience a fast recovery with protective eyewear; most of our patients achieve clear vision and return to their normal routine within 1 to 7 days depending on the selected technique. Your specific case details will be discussed, personally with you and family.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
· Q: Where will the Surgery be done?
A: All Lasik, Epilasik, Clear will be performed at our Sister Concern - Jyothi Lasik Vision Centre - a 26 year old Group Practice Enterprise, of which Dr MS Prashanth is a Founder Director. ICL and IPCL surgeries are performed at Sukruthi Eye Care Microsurgical Centre.
· Q: What is Contoura Vision and how is it different from standard LASIK?
A: Standard LASIK corrects your vision based solely on your spectacle prescription. Contoura Vision goes further by mapping up to 22,000 unique elevation points on your cornea using our Vario Topolyzer. This allows us to direct the laser to smooth microscopic irregularities, often achieving vision that is sharper than what was possible with your glasses or contacts.
· Q: Can I get Contoura Vision if I choose Epi-LASIK (surface treatment)?
A: Yes! We offer Contoura Vision topographic customization for both our flap-based LASIK and surface-based Epi-LASIK procedures.
· Q: Which refractive procedure is best for my eyes?
A: There is no single "best" procedure; the right choice depends on your corneal thickness, curvature, and optical power. A detailed screening using our Pentacam HR and Tomey Pachymeter allows us to determine whether LASIK, Epi-LASIK, CLEAR, or ICL is safest for you.
· Q: Is the procedure painful?
A: No. We perform all refractive procedures using anesthetic numbing drops. You may feel mild pressure for a few seconds during flap creation or laser application, but no sharp pain. In some procedures like Epilasik, there may be significant pain for a couple of days after the surgery, which will be discussed with you.
· Q: Can I get ICL if my cornea is too thin for laser vision correction?
A: Yes! ICL does not remove or reshape corneal tissue, making it the ideal solution we offer for thin corneas or high spectacle prescriptions where laser reshaping is not the right choice.
